(?) I think being a visionary is one of the number one skills a leader needs. They need to be able to have a clear vision of they see things going and then share it with the people they work with in a clear and concise manner
(A) "...vision exists when people in an organization share an explicit agreement on the values, beliefs, purposes, and goals that should guide their behavior." "...organizations advance when a clear, widely understood vision creates tension between the real and the ideal, pushing people to work together to reduce the gap." http://www.vtaide.com/png/ERIC/Visionary-Leadership.htm
(A) "They (principals) build trust, focus the school, convene and sustain the conversation, and insist on the implementation of policy and practice." (p. 43)
(S) "Develop a shared vision – the vision is the touchstone for all other actions – the yardstick for questions and the reference point for conversations." (p. 50)
(JM) This is so low because I don’t think you need to reinvent the wheel
(JH) Typically visions already exist, if they are not up to par they can usually be tweeked to work better for everyone.
(JH) "Also, once there is a shared vision, it's done, you are able to use it as a "yardstick" to measure the successes of the group" (p.50)
